Would you like to help make the world a better place? Help Okeeheelee Nature Center educate visitors about animals and the environment, and inspire people to take action to help our planet! In order to volunteer, interested persons must: - be at least fifteen years old.
- not need court-ordered service hours.
- commit to volunteering for a minimum of six months or 100 hours.
- complete the application/background check process.
Training is provided by staff or experienced volunteers for all positions. Volunteer opportunities include: -
FRIENDS OF OKEEHEELEE VOLUNTEER
Volunteer to help the non-profit group that works to provide additional support for the nature center! Committees include: media specialist, special events, gift shop, and the membership/sponsorship committees.

HABITAT MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT
Help maintain the trails, butterfly garden and nest boxes, and remove exotic/unwanted plants.

DOCENT/PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Lead guided walks, and assist with educational programs for groups and the public.

OFFICE ASSISTANT
Assist with office duties including: filing, confirming programs, data entry, faxing, etc.

GREETER
Welcome the public, answer questions from visitors and over the phone, and complete gift shop sales.

ANIMAL CARETAKER
Help care for our educational animals through feeding, watering, and keeping their cages/ aquariums clean.
